The Friends of the Ontario Public Library is a non-profit community association for those interested in assisting the library. Its purpose is to:
- stimulate use of the library's resources and services through funding and voluntary participation
- support and cooperate in developing library services and facilities for the community
- support the freedom to read and view as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.
Its activities include:
- Books at Noon, a monthly review program opened to the public and scheduled as a brown-bag lunch; Friends provide the beverages and dessert.
- Fundraising with books sales, and an occasionally bake sale
- Funding special needs of the library.
- Sponsorship of special programming for children and adults
- Aiding the library director and staff as needed.
Membership is open to all. Annual membership runs from September to September. Individuals may join as an Individual Member for $10 (willing to work on activities and attend any meetings held) or Patron for $25.
All members are eligible to attend the annual meeting held in April. To join, fill out a membership form at the library. Please make checks payable to Friends of OPL.
